On December 9, 1531, a young Mexican peasant named Juan Diego experienced a vision of a beautiful woman on the Tepeyac Hill which would later become part of the villa de Guadalupe. The woman would identify herself as the Virgin Mary and over the course of several apparitions, she would request that Juan Diego relay her request to the Archbishop that a church be built in her honor. Although the Archbishop did not initially believe Juan Diego, the Virgin Mary provided Juan Diego with a sign that this was indeed a prayer request from the Holy Virgin Mary. This came in the form of a miraculous image being imprinted on Juan Diego’s cloak which is something that can still be seen in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Today, there are countless Catholics all over the world who raise their voice to Mary and to God in an Our Lady of Guadalupe prayer request with the hopes that their prayer intentions will be heard.
Recently, we heard an inspiring story from a fellow believer, John, who reached out to share his miracle with us:
“My prayers came true! My dad was healed from stage 4 prostate cancer after submitting my prayer request. Glory to God! Your service brought me closer to Jesus Christ, making me feel his love and grace.”
Such stories remind us of the power of faith and prayer, and how our collective spirituality can make a profound difference.

O Virgin of Guadalupe,
Mother of the Americas,
grant to our homes the grace of loving
and respecting life in its beginnings,
with the same love with which
you conceived in your womb
the life of the Son of God.
Blessed Virgin Mary,
Mother of Fair Love,
protect our families so that
they may always be united
and bless the upbringing of our children.
Our hope, look upon us with pity,
teach is to go continually to Jesus,
and if we fall
help us to rise again and return to Him
through the confession of our faults
and our sins in the Sacrament of penance,
which gives peace to the soul.
We beg you to grant us a great love
of all the holy Sacraments,
which are, as it were,
the signs that your Son left us on earth.
Thus, Most Holy Mother,
with the peace of God in our consciences,
with our hearts free from evil and hatred,
we will be able to bring to all others
true joy and peace,
which come to us from your Son,
our Lord Jesus Christ,
who with the Father and the Holy Spirit,
lives and reigns for ever and ever.
